Curriculum Overview
Parental Right to Withdraw from Religious Education
Parents and carers have a legal right to request that their child be withdrawn from all or part of Religious Education (RE) lessons and acts of collective worship. This right is set out in Section 71 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
If you wish to exercise this right, please submit your request in writing to the school. The school may invite you to discuss your child’s RE programme before confirming withdrawal arrangements. The school will supervise your child during the time they are withdrawn but is not required to provide alternative teaching.
